Is wax really causing the problem?
Ear wax is a normal and useful part of ear health. It protects the ear canal and usually moves out naturally.
Sometimes it builds up, causing muffled hearing, fullness or discomfort.
However, a blocked sensation or a change in hearing can also occur without any wax. That is why Tim examines the ears before recommending removal.
If no wax is present, he will explain the visible findings and advise whether another assessment is appropriate.
A careful examination comes first.
Every appointment begins with a discussion of your symptoms and relevant ear health history.
Tim examines your ears, using otoscopy or video otoscopy where appropriate.
If wax is present, he explains the suitable removal options and relevant risks before obtaining your consent.
Microsuction, controlled irrigation and manual removal are all available, but not every method is appropriate for every ear.

Here's what Stephen said about his experience with South Coast Hearing.
“Very professional and got treated very quickly. Felt comfortable and would highly recommend. Would use this service again.”
Do you need ear drops beforehand?
Not always. Firm or dry wax can sometimes be easier to remove after suitable wax-softening drops.
Olive-oil preparations or another appropriate product may be recommended for several days before treatment, depending on your ear health.
There is no universal requirement to use Earol for two weeks. If you are unsure, ask Tim before your appointment.
If you have had a perforated eardrum, grommets, ear surgery or ear discharge, seek appropriate clinical advice before using drops.

Do you visit homes around Sea Lane and Broadmark Lane?
Home visit enquiries are welcome from Sea Lane, Broadmark Lane, Rustington village and surrounding residential streets. Availability is confirmed when you enquire.
How much does home ear wax removal cost?
The standard home removal fee is £90 for one or both ears. If no wax is present, the consultation fee is £40. These are not clinic prices.
What if I don't actually have any ear wax?
Tim will explain the visible ear health findings and discuss whether further assessment is appropriate. The £40 no-wax home consultation fee applies instead of £90.
Will removing ear wax improve my hearing?
Hearing may improve if impacted wax is responsible for the reduction. However, hearing difficulties can have other causes, and improvement cannot be guaranteed.
Do I need to use olive oil before the appointment?
Not necessarily. Suitable drops can help soften firm or dry wax, but preparation depends on your ear health. Ask Tim for advice if you're unsure.
Is microsuction uncomfortable?
Many people tolerate microsuction well, although the equipment can sound loud and temporary discomfort or dizziness may occur. Less commonly, irritation, bleeding or injury can occur. Tim will explain the relevant risks and check how you feel during treatment.
Can Tim visit a Rustington care home?
Suitable visits can be arranged for residents in care homes and supported accommodation. Contact Tim with the location and relevant circumstances to discuss arrangements.
How quickly can I arrange an appointment?
