Tim qualified as a Hearing Aid Audiologist from Aston University in 2016, graduating with distinction.
Since then, his experience has included clinical care, mentoring and training professionals across both NHS and private settings. He has also worked with a leading hearing aid manufacturer, delivering training and support into hospitals and schools for children with hearing loss.
That breadth of experience has shaped the way South Coast Hearing works today.
Having worked within larger hearing care organisations, Tim became increasingly aware of how time pressures, rigid systems and commercial priorities can make truly individualised care harder to deliver.
South Coast Hearing was created to offer something more personal: genuinely independent advice, continuity of care and the time to properly understand the person behind the hearing test.

How Tim works
Personal care starts with taking the time.
Good audiology is not simply about running tests or choosing technology. It starts with understanding the person, the difficulties they are experiencing and what they would genuinely like to improve.
Take the time
Appointments are deliberately unhurried, giving you time to explain what you are experiencing and ask the questions that matter to you.
Explain things clearly
Results and recommendations are explained in plain language, helping you understand what is happening and what your options really are.
Recommend what fits
Advice is shaped around your hearing, lifestyle and priorities rather than around a particular product, brand or sales target.
Truly independent advice
The hearing aid comes after the person.
South Coast Hearing is independently owned, allowing Tim to work with hearing technology from a range of leading manufacturers rather than being tied to one brand or product range.
The starting point is always you: your hearing, lifestyle, listening environments and the situations you would most like to improve.
From there, recommendations can be made based on what is genuinely likely to suit you best. And if hearing aids are not the right answer, you will be told that too.
The aim is not to fit a hearing aid for the sake of it. It is to find the right solution for the individual.
More than the audiogram
Hearing is rarely just about volume.
Two people can have very similar hearing test results and still experience hearing in completely different ways.
Understanding hearing properly means looking beyond the quietest sounds you can detect and considering how you manage speech, background noise, television, groups, music and everyday conversation.
That is why Tim uses South Coast Hearing’s Signature Hearing Assessment to build a fuller picture before making any recommendations.

Outside audiology, Tim is a musician & music producer, which has shaped a particular interest in how hearing technology handles complex sound and how natural listening can be preserved wherever possible.
Music places very different demands on the hearing system from speech. Tone, dynamics, pitch and spatial detail all matter, and hearing technology does not always treat those elements in the same way.
For people who play music, listen closely or simply care about how sound feels, those priorities can form an important part of choosing and programming hearing technology.

Fitting the hearing aid is only the beginning.
Hearing changes, listening needs change and hearing technology often needs adjusting as you become more familiar with it.
