Performance in background noise is another key factor. Busy environments are where many hearing aids are truly tested. The right pair fitting properly should help you remain engaged in restaurants, group settings, and everyday social situations.
Comfort matters just as much. If hearing aids do not feel comfortable or natural to wear, they are far less likely to become part of daily life. Fit, feel, and confidence all play a big part in long term success.
Ease of use is also more important than many people expect. Rechargeability, controls, and simple day to day handling can make a real difference, particularly where dexterity or eyesight may be a factor.

What about different styles of hearing aid?
Each package we provide has multiple different styles of hearing aid, and during the assessment, we discuss which may be the best suited for you. We base this on many factors, such as type and degree of hearing loss, the physical shape of your ears and of course, your own personal preference.
A receiver-in-canal hearing aid, or RIC, is often the most commonly used and seen device.
The receiver (or speaker) sits in the ear canal and is connected to a thin, discrete wire which is then connected to the main part of the hearing aid which sits on the top of the ear.
They are rechargeable, and have the full range of Bluetooth capabilities.
They are often very comfortable and provide a natural hearing experience.
Receiver-in-canal
A behind-the-ear, or a BTE, is often a little larger than a RIC.
This is because these hearing aids provide more power for more severe or profound hearing loss.
They are positioned on the back of the ear, with a tube which is connected to a mould or soft ear piece which goes into the ear canal.
They are rechargeable, and have the full range of Bluetooth capabilities.
Behind-the-ear
An invisible-in-canal, or IIC, is a hearing aid made from an impression of your ear.
It sits deep into the canal and can be very discreet.
To make them small, some features are sacrificed. Often rechargeability and Bluetooth features are too large to fit inside the small size of the device.
They are not suitable for every one, as the size and shape of your ear canal as well as the type and degree of hearing loss are important parts as to whether this style of hearing would be suitable.
Invisible-in-canal
In-the-ear, or ITE, is a hearing aid made from an impression of your ear.
It sits on the outer part of your ear, and can be make in various sizes for different types of hearing loss and ear shape/size.
They are rechargeable, and have the full range of Bluetooth capabilities.
Hearing loss degree and type are considerations for this sort of hearing aid.
