Ear wax removal in Pulborough, at home.
Professional microsuction and ear wax removal at your home, with independent audiologist Tim Davies.
If your ears feel blocked, sounds seem muffled or you suspect a build-up of ear wax, Tim can visit your home in Pulborough to examine your ears and explain what he finds.
South Coast Hearing provides home ear care throughout Pulborough, including the village centre, Codmore Hill, Nutbourne and surrounding communities.
Tim examines your ears before recommending treatment. If wax removal is suitable, microsuction, irrigation or manual removal may be used as appropriate.
All care is personally provided by Tim Davies, an HCPC-registered audiologist.

A practical option when travelling isn't ideal.
In Pulborough and the surrounding villages, a visit to a clinic can mean organising transport or relying on someone else for a lift.
A home appointment allows Tim to bring his examination and treatment equipment directly to you.
It may be especially helpful for someone with reduced mobility, a relative who requires assistance or a care-home resident.
Home visits are also available for people who simply prefer to be seen in familiar surroundings.
Blocked hearing? Check the cause first.
Ear wax is normal. It helps protect the ear canal and usually clears naturally.
Sometimes it collects and becomes impacted, causing muffled hearing, fullness or discomfort.
However, a blocked sensation does not always mean there is wax present. Hearing difficulties can have other causes.
Tim begins by examining your ears rather than assuming wax removal is needed. If the ears are clear, he can explain the visible findings and appropriate next steps.
A proper examination, then suitable treatment.
Tim asks about your symptoms and relevant ear health history before examining both ears.
Otoscopy or video otoscopy may be used to assess the condition of the ear canals.
When wax is present, and removal is appropriate, Tim may use microsuction, controlled irrigation or manual removal.
No single method is best for every person. Ear health, treatment precautions and the condition of the wax help determine the recommended approach.

Alongside treatment, Tim provides explanations and relevant guidance about caring for your ears afterwards.
Angela described her husband's experience with the South Coast Hearing home-visit service.
“My husband's just received an excellent service from Tim, a first class Audiologist on a Home Visit from South Coast Hearing. Later that evening, notes were received as to how special care should be given to the ears for the next few days to help the healing. WONDERFUL.”

Should you use ear drops beforehand?
Sometimes. Firm or dry wax may be easier to remove after suitable softening.
Olive-oil drops or another appropriate preparation may be recommended for several days, depending on the condition of your ears.
Not everybody needs drops, and there is no universal requirement to use Earol for two weeks.
If you've had ear surgery, a perforated eardrum, grommets or ear discharge, seek appropriate advice before using ear drops.
What if hearing is still reduced?
Removing impacted wax may improve hearing when wax caused the difficulty. Improvement cannot be guaranteed, however.
If your hearing remains reduced after wax has been addressed, Tim can discuss whether further hearing assessment or medical advice is appropriate.
Hearing aid users can also experience wax obstructing receivers, filters, domes or earmoulds. The devices themselves may need checking.

Can Tim visit West Chiltington or Fittleworth?

How much is home ear wax removal?
Standard home wax removal costs £90 for one or both ears. If no wax is present, the consultation fee is £40.
What happens if there's no ear wax?
Tim will explain the visible examination findings and advise whether other assessment is appropriate. The £40 no-wax consultation fee applies instead of the £90 removal fee.
Do I have to use drops before the appointment?
Not always. Suitable drops may help with firm or dry wax, but preparation depends on ear health. Ask Tim if you're unsure, particularly if you've had previous ear problems.
Is microsuction better than irrigation?
Neither method is automatically best for everyone. Tim considers the examination findings, medical history, treatment precautions and type of wax before recommending an approach.
Will removing wax improve my hearing?
Hearing may improve if impacted wax was causing the difficulty, but hearing loss can have other causes. Improvement is not guaranteed.
Can Tim visit a care home near Pulborough?
Suitable visits can be arranged by enquiry for care-home residents and people in supported settings, with family or care staff involved where appropriate.
How soon can I arrange an appointment?
Availability varies with location and existing appointments. You can request a home visit online or contact Tim. A booking is confirmed once the request has been reviewed.
